Investigation and Analysis of Writing Specifications of Bachelor Thesis English Abstracts of English Majors of Agricultural Colleges
In order to investigate the problems in English abstract writings of English major Bachelor thesis of agricultural college, this survey randomly 50 Bachelor thesis abstracts. It finds the following problems. First, structural elements are incomplete, with the lack or unclear results and conclusions. Second, abstract type selection is unreasonable, and informative abstracts are fewer. Third, "this paper" as the subject is popular, the abstract word number is lower, and first-person pronouns are used. Fourth, there are more language vocabulary and grammar mistakes, especially Chinese and English inconsistency. Recommendations are as follows: to improve teachers and students' consciousness to abstract writing quality, to specify how to write the abstracts in English academic writing textbooks, to illustrate abstract writing standards in graduation thesis formats, and write abstracts first and then the body of thesis.
